Is that voice in your head telling you that you can’t accomplish what you want to? Then you need to learn how to change the conversation!
- “You don’t know my business.”
- “You don’t understand my market.”
- “You don’t know how hard it is to find good people in this industry.”
Do you ever find yourself saying these sorts of limiting statements to people who could potentially help your business grow and achieve a new level of success? I can’t tell you how many times throughout my career that I’ve heard these phrases.
These people are stuck; and you might be one of them. This type of thinking isn’t limited to business owners. 90% of people, in my experience, tend to reflexively focus on what they perceive as being wrong in a situation. They become fixated on that wrongness.
They become so fixated on what’s wrong, that they then create a narrative for themselves as to why they simply cannot create more success, or make money, or get more clients — it’s a self-fulfilling prophecy! Keep telling yourself this over and over again, and it’s bound to become true because it’s the only thing you’re willing to believe.
Your open-mindedness creates your business, and it can also help improve your business
Think back to when you first started your business. What were you excited about? What was it that had you constantly dreaming and plotting and striving to turn it into a reality? You created it, right? It was born out of your passion and enthusiasm.
This is what I try to reinforce with people who have let their negative thinking overtake their perspective: You created something out of nothing. You made it successful. You’re now simply at a place where you need to get back in touch with that sense of enthusiasm so that you can reopen your eyes to what’s possible.
Take a look at whose advice you’re following
I place so much importance on the concept of “What you think is what you say; what you say is what you do; and what you do becomes your legacy.” You can have good intentions in any number of situations, but if you’re not taking action on those intentions, then they’re not real — they’re just ideas.
So I’d encourage you to ask yourself why you never get past the thinking stage. Why aren’t you motivated enough to take the same level of action with the same enthusiasm that you had when you first started your business? Is someone around you poisoning the well? Is someone lowering your level of belief? If this is the case, then you might consider separating yourself from these influences.
At Cardone Ventures, we want you to succeed. We’re committed to building a culture of each other and of getting real with each other about the tough stuff. We have this culture because at the end of the day, we all have each other’s best interests in mind.
There are no questions that are “dumb,” and there are no dreams that are “too big.” We’re here to help you get over those hurdles — the ones that are making you second guess yourself, the ones that are pushing you back into the friction— that you can, once again, recognize and lean into all of the opportunities that are already in front of you.
Always be a student
You likely went into business because you wanted to create a life of freedom for yourself. Are you as focused on the “what you do, how you do it, and who you do it with” as you should be? Are you surrounding yourself with people who have done the things you want to accomplish? Are you surrounding yourself with people who can help you achieve your vision, the ones who want you to get to that next level of success?
Getting yourself to the next phase and beyond is all about learning the technical aspects of what you need to do, and then taking action to make it happen. If you don’t know where to start, or you don’t know who you can lean on, then I’m here to tell you that Cardone Ventures is the community you should be a part of.
