Losing perspective on where you’re at? It’s time for a gut-check.
It’s easy, and honestly pretty common, to lose sight of where you’re at and whether or not you are accomplishing your goals. This is why we’re so process oriented at Cardone Ventures. We build steps into our day-to-day activities that help us pay closer attention to where we’re at in any given project or goal.
Sometimes, the perspective you need is even broader in scope. Take a look at these five considerations. Think carefully about what they’re asking you. If you positively identify with just one of these five signs, then you’re making progress. Two or more? You’re really getting somewhere! Don’t give up. And don’t forget to build process into your days, weeks, and months to check in with yourself and the progress you’re making. You’ll never lose perspective again, I assure you.
Five signs that you’re doing better than you think you are:
You’re not the same person you were a year ago
This one is big. Change is never easy, whether it’s a change in personal habits like diet and exercise, the sort of media you’re consuming, or your job and business ownership.
Having a sense of disciplined direction is impressive. If you’re someone who never really exercised before and now you’re hitting the gym two or three times a week, then you’re a changed person. If you’re now dedicating your time to a new pursuit with passion and consistency, then you’ve changed, and you’ve changed for the better. Keep it up.
You’ve gone through so many hardships and you made it through
We don’t give ourselves enough credit for our resilience. When you’re a business owner, you never know what your day is going to look like. It might be landing an incredible new customer. Or it might be losing your most important source of revenue. You might interview someone who will ultimately become your organization’s top-performer, or you might get a letter of resignation from who you thought was your right-hand team member.
The point is that you always find the strength to keep going. You haven’t lost sight of your ultimate goal, despite all of the distractions that get thrown in your way. You’re a survivor. And survivors are in it for the long hall. Keep going!
You’ve got serious goals
Everybody has goals. Or at least they think they do. Other people daydream about the things they want to accomplish in their lives. You’re actually doing something about yours. You get up every morning, you write down your most important goals, and you do the things, no matter how small or inconsequential they seem, that get you one step closer to where you want to be.
You’ve got the vision, but you’ve also got the plan. And you’re executing on that plan! Do you realize how few people follow through on their goals? You’re making things happen. Don’t stop now.
You have close friends you can trust and count on
People rarely accomplish things on their own. You’ve been smart enough to align yourself with people who you can trust. People who not just tell you how great you are, but also push you when you need a nudge.
True friends are those people who are willing to give you untarnished, constructive feedback you need and the love and support you deserve. Hold these people close. Show them that you’re accountable to yourself. And be the same sort of friend to them. Support each other!
You believe that the universe has great things in store for you
Listen, there’s so much to be said for having a positive mental attitude. By only dwelling on the negative things in life, you’re confining yourself by your own lack of belief.
My friend, author and world-renowned leadership coach, John C. Maxwell, refers to this as your “belief lid.” The lower your belief, the less you’ll be able to achieve. But, conversely, the more you believe, the more you can achieve.
There are a lot of things that get taken away from you in life, but no one can take away your attitude. Be open to the possibilities. And then make a plan of action to take advantage of them!
You might not always see it. You might not always feel it. But when you have clear goals, a solid plan of action, and a trusted support system, you can accomplish anything. If you’re looking for help with any one of these three things, then visit Cardone Ventures NOW to register for our next life-changing event!
