Are you a dangerous human being?
When I ask people if they’re dangerous human beings, I am not asking if they’re violent or if they are capable of causing someone harm. When someone like me asks you if you’re a dangerous human being, what I’m asking is, “Are you the best version of yourself that you can possibly be?”
If we’re being honest with ourselves, more often than not, the answer is going to be, “No.” You see, there’s always room for us to continue growing, to dig deeper, to learn more, to stretch and stretch and stretch ourselves until it seems like we can’t go much further, and then you know what happens? You’re able to grow even more.
That’s why I encourage you and every one I get the pleasure of mentoring to be dangerous in your daily lives. It’s a good reminder that there’s always space within us to learn and grow. I gauge my danger via these five ideas. Use them in your own life to make yourself as dangerous as you can possibly be.
Workout
Seems simple, but it makes a difference. Not only will you be automatically more attractive than about 80% of people out there just by regularly exercising and eating clean, but you’re also giving yourself an outlet for stress, a venue to organize your subconscious thoughts, and, ultimately, you’re giving yourself a healthier body and mind.
You’ll feel better, sleep better, look better, and be more focused throughout your day. Eating junk food is easy. Being sedentary is easy. Letting yourself become overwhelmed by stress is the easy path. Challenge yourself to have the discipline it takes to move your body and be more intentional about what you’re putting inside of it.
Do what you say you’re going to do
Do you realize how rare it is for people to actually follow through on what they say they’re going to do? I’m not exaggerating when I say that half of success is just following through.
Too many people say too many things about too many ideas that they’re never going to follow through on. You need to always remember that your word is your bond, and that when you say you’re going to do something and you don’t, you’re eroding people’s trust in you.
If you want to achieve success, then it takes more than commitment — it also takes the vision, the planning, and the tenacity to follow through. Every. Single. Time.
Do not care
Sometimes, people do things in an effort to get an emotional reaction out of you. They’ll use your emotions against you, manipulating situations in an effort to get the best of you. You’ve opened a door into your psyche, and these people will seek to exploit it.
There are few things in life that people find more jarring than someone who does not emotionally react in these situations. They’ll find they have no way to affect or control you, and you’ll have the upper hand in negotiations. What’s more, this level of focus will help you to make clearer decisions in the face of adversity. Stay calm. Be cool. Control the controllable.
Create monetized solutions
Too many people complain (about pretty much everything). Be smarter than that. Don’t get caught up in the negativity, because you have every opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
If people are complaining about something, that means that there’s a solution that can be created, and if there’s a solution that can be created, then you can create and monetize that solution.
Create the solution, be the first one to market, sell it, and then show all the complainers what a dangerous person you really are.
Control your actions. And your reactions.
We always have the foresight to consider how our actions are going to affect certain outcomes, whether they’re personal, professional, or financial. Use that sense of control in those situations to push your life and business forward toward growth, sustainability, and wealth.
Similarly, you have the power to control how you react to things. Even in situations where things feel tragic or hopeless, there are always ways in which you can learn from the moment and put yourself in a better position in the long run. Don’t let yourself get caught up in emotion when a level head is needed.
